Ward addresses ACLU
The public is invited to the Florida Keys chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union's membership open house at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, 801 Georgia St.
Board Member Jim Stentzel will introduce the national ACLU "Actions for Restoring America" campaign. Monroe County State Attorney-elect Dennis Ward will be the guest speaker, and will take questions from the audience.
Chapter members may attend the regular monthly board meeting at 10 a.m.

Power discounts for seniors, DAV
March 31 is the deadline to enroll in the Keys Energy Services discount program for qualifying residential customers who are senior citizens or Disabled American Veterans. Previous participants must re-qualify.
The utility has mailed applications to the latter. New applicants may download a form from http://www.KeysEnergy.com, call 305-515-0333 to request one by mail, or pick one up at the utility office at 1001 James St. in Key West or 13 Ships Way in Big Pine Key.
All applications must be completed and signed at a utility office, or be notarized if they are returned by mail.
Qualifying customers must be at least 62, and Disabled American Veterans must be totally or permanently disabled. Annual household income may not exceed $27,876 for 2009.

Water discounts for seniors, DAV
March 31 is the deadline to enroll in the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority discount program for qualifying residential customers who are senior citizens or Disabled American Veterans. Previous participants must re-qualify.
Applications are available at the utility office at 1100 Kennedy Drive in Key West, 91620 Overseas Highway in Tavernier, and 3200 Overseas Highway in Marathon. Those who are physically incapable may call to arrange a home visit to fill out the paperwork.
All applications must be completed and signed at a utility office, or be notarized if not.
Qualify customers must be at least 60 years, and Disabled American Veterans must be totally or permanently disabled. Annual household income for 2009 may not exceed $27,876 for one person or $41,814 for two.
