A Key Largo resident was arrested Monday, accused of crashing his boat then leaving his three injured passengers stranded in the water Saturday.
Gregg Paul Glausen, 56, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, a felony, and reckless driving, a misdemeanor.
Glausen hit a channel marker on the east side of the Jewfish Creek Bridge, flipping his 24-foot Sea Ray and dumping all four occupants and his dog into the water just after dark, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
A 7-year-old girl was taken to Baptist Hospital in Miami. Her mother, Elizabeth McDonald, 38, of Key Largo, and her 16-year-old niece from Naples also were left behind.
He allegedly flagged down a boater, who took Glausen and his dog to his home at Mile Marker 104.3. A second boater apparently picked up the other passengers later.
