The Key West Innkeepers Association is suing the Popular House in hopes the judge will strip the William Street guesthouse of its copyrighted name Key West Bed and Breakfast.

The guesthouse, which obtained the copyright years ago, recently began ordering other guesthouses to cease and desist from using the phrase.

Other guesthouses, who have been using the phrase in their marketing and on their Web sites, say the phrase is too generic to meet the copyright test.
